Minutes from the April 10, 2010 Committee Meeting

 

PRESENT:  Lee, Barbara, Kim, Andy, Lew, Tom

DISCUSSION:

The applications for Market Manager were discussed. Only 2 applications were received and 1 of the applicants withdrew, before the interview could be scheduled. 

Lou brought an additional application and this application was reviewed. Lew is to schedule an interview either the 14th or 15th (Wed. 14th @ 3:45 pm)

The 2nd applicant will not be available until May 1. 

If neither of the current applicants is accepted, an additional Add will be placed in the newspaper.  Hopefully, with a better result.

Will the parking lot be completed by the Market start date?

Tom checked with the County Manager, Ashton, and as of 4.10.10 the word is that the parking lot will be completed and ready for use.

Additionally, Kim is going to check with the City of Cortez to inquire what alternate sites may be available in the future.

Andy presented a proposed map of the vendor spaces after a discussion and a few revisions the map was adopted, and will be used this year.  There are a total of 58 spaces with this new layout. (There were only 52 in the old layout)

Andy will put the layout on a spread sheet to be printed and handed out with known vendors located and their space already assigned.

SPRING MEETING:

The spring meeting will be used for vendor sign-up and assignment of spaces.

The vendors from last year will be assured a space if they sign-up within 1 week of the meeting. 

The meeting will be held at the Calvin Denton room on Saturday morning May 1, 2010, if available.  Changed to May 7th at 10:00 am.

A copy of the Map and the New Rules & Regulations will be handed out at the meeting.

Any new vendor applications will be accepted at the meeting and will be considered on a case by case basis.  Each application will be assigned a number and will be considered in the order in which they are received.  New Vendors may also request an application at the Extension Office.

When the date and time of the meeting is established Tom will place and Add in the newspapers.  Lee will prepare a mailing to the listed vendors and try to e-mail those who have e-mail addresses.

Lee will try to write the Add for the newspaper for Tom to utilize.

Grant:

A discussion was held as to the proposed items in the Grant.  Some suggestions were made and Lou will be working on the Grant.  The Grant will be for October 2010 thru 2011.

The Grant will now only be for 1 year and if the Grant is granted the 1st year it will not be granted the 2nd year.   This will mean that funding for new items will need to be found elsewhere, or the Vendor fees will need to increase to cover the advertising and such for the next year. (2012)
