Cortez Farmers Market

Dear Customers, Supporters, Vendors, and Musicians:

With Thanksgiving almost here, I am reminded to write and thank each and every one of you for your support of the Cortez Farmers Market. We had an excellent year! The Market was full and festive, even when it poured rain on us! This would not be so without you coming to shop, and support, and farm!

We really do have the most extraordinary group of vendors! From the freshest Montezuma and Dolores County grown produce to locally grown chickens, lambs, pork, and beef, the Market offers one-stop shopping to our neighbors and visitors alike. Our artists offer pottery, felted flags, pins, and pillows, beautiful new jewelry recycled from older jewelry. We have the best bakery in town present every week, jams and jellies made from locally grown fruits, the best honey, amazing breads, and coffee to wake me up and get me going!

The best part of all of this is our customers. Shopping at the Market allows your dollars to circulate right here in your own community. Every time you shop at the Market you are supporting your neighbors and friends and helping our economy to grow. We are all so lucky to have the opportunity to do that!

Thanks to our wonderful musicians, who come out every Saturday, set up all of their gear, and entertain us! We really enjoy every performance!

And, finally, our supporters. Wow, you amaze me every year with your generosity Ė not just the money you grant us, but also your generosity of spirit and cooperation. Our thanks go to: Montezuma County; the Pinon Project; the Cortez Retail Enhancement Association led by Mark Drudge; the Montezuma County Extension Office, especially Kathy Harris for helping us throughout the season; the City of Cortez and their executive assistant Dawn McCabe-Lightenberger; Laura McHenry from the Cortez Library for all the Storytimes on the lawn; all the DJs at KSJD for reading our PSAs; Connie Baber who keeps our Web site up-to-date, thoughtful, and attractive, too; Amy Nelms and Midge Kirk from LiveWell Colorado for their help and support with the Double Up Bucks Program; our Marketís Standing Committee and Lee Hill; and all of my delightful, faithful volunteers who help me out each week and take such good care of our customers: Carol Dunsworth, Alan Ralston, Ann Smith, Jodie Sutton, Lew Matis, Pat Norton, and our newest volunteer Krista Swanson
ó I could not do it without you and your beautiful smiling faces!

Have a good Winter and Iíll see you in the Spring!
